So much terrific work is being done in all the photography classes. In the Visual Studies-Photo class, students just finished making their blogs. This is where they will be posting all their finished projects and research into other artists. Check them out and see what fun things kids did this summer. We are now working on understanding how the elements and principles of design work. Students will be creating an informational poster showing an image they took representing each element and principle and their definition.
The 3-4 classes are in the midst of learning about photograms, lumens, anthotypes, cyanotypes and pinhole cameras. Some very creative work is showing up. Here is a series of anthotypes that Maddy Dortignacq made last year. Many students this year are interested in this process.
In the Photo 5-6 class, students just finished up making several small idea books using Japanese stab binding techniques. They are now working on a slightly bigger book of photographs taken this past summer that will be bound with a more advanced stab binding of their choice. They are also working on a creative exercise in which they have to use old film that was left by former students and transform it. Some really fantastic and creative work is being done. I cannot wait to see what the students in this class do this year. They are a stellar bunch!!
